The other side-events held in the framework of this year's ceremony focused on linking Smart Cities and the European Covenant, making investment in climate adaptation profitable and strengthening the cooperation between the Covenant ambassadors of the Committee of the Regions and the European Covenant of Mayors board.
In this momentum, 37 Mayors also signed a symbolic commitment to present the Covenant 2030 political document to their next Municipal Council at the occasion of the Urban Future Global Conference, taking place in Vienna on 28 February. Gil Penalosa, Founder and Chair of 8 80 Cities and Chair of World Urban Parks gave an inspiring keynote speech to the members of the Covenant community gathered at this occasion, urging them to take the opportunity of the climate urgency to make cities more liveable and inclusive.
