EUROCITIES position on EU 2050 climate ambition

In a letter addressed to the President of the European Council, the EU Heads of State, EC Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič and Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete, EUROCITIES President Anna König Jerlmyr pointed out EUROCITIES position on the EU 2050 climate ambition. She calls on EU leaders to commit to the target of net zero emissions by 2050 as it is the only pathway that will deliver on citizens’ expectations and minimise negative future impacts.

Open letter from the Coalition for Higher Ambition

In an open letter addressed to the EU Heads of State and Government, the President Juncker and the EU Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete, the Coalition for Higher Ambition, an alliance of European businesses, associations, investor groups, trade unions, local and regional authorities and civil society organisations, called on the EU to review its 2030 contribution to the Paris Agreement and to endorse the objective of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

CoMo case study Turin: Energy efficiency interventions for public buildings and lighting systems

The municipality has undertaken a fruitful collaboration with the University Politecnico of Turin to collect data on energy consumption and costs for the city building stock, with the aim of making more efficient technical and policy decisions. Renovation of public buildings and substitution of public lighting bulbs with LEDs are among the first actions implemented.
